- W2895818864 abstract "The phase diagram of the CaO–Nb2O5 system was constructed on the basis of comprehensive experimental investigations using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermal analysis (DSC/TGA), pyrometric observations, microscopic observations (SEM/EDS) and IR spectroscopy in the whole composition range up to 1600 °C. Thermal stability and structure of the phases reported in the literature have been compiled, critically evaluated and compared with the established data. To clarify the literature inconsistency regarding the nominal composition of the Ca3Nb2O8 phase and the character of its melting, as well as the composition range and existence of the Ca4Nb2O9-based solid solution, detailed research on CaO-rich samples was carried out. The careful analysis of the literature data and our experimental results lead to a new version of the phase diagram. The CaO–Nb2O5 system includes four intermediate compounds. Two of them, CaNb2O6 and Ca2Nb2O7, melt congruently and the third, Ca3Nb2O8, decomposes in the solid state at 1540 ± 10 °C. No solid solutions were observed under the conditions of our study." @default.
