- W2895909491 abstract "Mountain papaya (Vasconcellea pubescens A.DC) a typical plant of Dieng Plateau has been identified to contain flavonoid and phenolic compounds. These compounds were determined to have antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to identify the effect of the ethanolic extract of mountain papaya fruit (EEMP) on lipid peroxidation activity of rat liver tissues induced by paracetamol. The rats were divided into six groups with group I not given any treatment, group II was given suspension of 0.25% CMC-Na, group III was given suspension of silymarin, and groups IV, V, and VI were given EEMP doses of 120, 240, and 480 mg/kg body weight respectively. The treatment were given for 14 days. Thirty minutes after treatment, on the last day, all groups were given a suspension of paracetamol at a dose of 2 g/kg body weight except for group I. After 48 hours, all groups were killed, and the liver was taken to be analyzed for its malondialdehyde (MDA) level using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. After statistical analysis, it was determined that there was a significant difference between groups (p < 0.05) which indicates that EEMP has an effect on the lipid peroxidation activity marked by the decrease of MDA levels in the liver." @default.
