The XRD, SEM, EDX characterization and TL, PL study were done for prepared phosphors. The XRD diffraction peaks indicate Y2O3 phosphors have cubic structure with agglomerated and uneven particles. The EDX interpretation verified the existence of initial chemicals in the synthesized samples. In PL emission spectrum the 4G9/2 to 6H7/2 transition of samarium ion refers intense peak at 604 nm and relatively low intensity peaks positioned at 527 nm, 642 nm and 696 nm under the 330 nm excitation wavelengths. The red emission at 586 nm signifies the transition from 4F9/2 energy state to 6H13/22 energy state of Dy3+ ions take place. The electric-quadruple interaction are involved in energy transfer. The concentration quenching is obtained above the optimum concentration 1.5 mol% of Samarium ions in the synthesized phosphors. The CIE chromaticity co-ordinate shows the emission from green to red region. The average life time of prepared phosphor is 62.37 s determined by afterglow analysis. The TL spectra show two peaks at 385 K and 637 K after 2 min UV irradiations. The activation energy varies from 0.731 eV to 1.339 eV and second order kinetics were obtained from TL spectra." @default.
