- W2896084490 abstract "The growth and morphogenesis of plants are affected by light conditions such as intensity, photoperiod, and quality. Photoreceptors, such as the phytochromes, phototropins, and cryptochromes in plant cells, act as “antennae” to absorb specific light spectra and create signals for modulating gene expression through signal transduction systems in plant cells. By changing gene expression, light signals control not only plant growth, but also flowering time, fruit color, or the functional chemical content of plants. Phytohormones also have crucial roles in plant growth regulation under different light conditions. Light quality can affect phytohormone levels, such as gibberellic acid, through gene expression associated with metabolic regulation. In addition, secondary metabolites are also changed by the signals from photoreceptors and play an important role in the survival of plants. Studies have shown that plant growth responses to changes in light conditions are a result of synchronous regulation of signal transduction systems by photoreceptors and metabolic regulation." @default.
