- W2896487602 abstract "REM sleep behavioral disorder (RBD) is REM sleep parasson defined as the presence of vivid dreams, with loss of muscle atony characteristic of this sleep phase, resulting in complex movements. In the last decades, it has been discovered its strong association with neurodegenerative diseases, notably alpha-sinucleinopathies. In the elderly population, the two main causes of neurodegenerative dementias are Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Lewy Body Dementia (LBD). In general, they present a distinct clinical picture; however, this differentiation is not always easy, especially when parkinsonism is not present. This is a cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study performed at the Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Clinic (CBNC) of the General Hospital of Fortaleza in the year 2017, which included patients with a probable and possible diagnosis of AD and LBD, who had an MMSE ≥ 10 and at least 1 neuroimaging examination described in the medical record. These patients were submitted to clinical, radiological, neuropsychological and sleep questionnaires (QT-TCSREM-BR and Epworth Daytime Sleepiness Questionnaire). A total of 397 patients were evaluated, with 30 patients with AD and 15 with probable/possible LBD selected. The predominance of females was 73.3% in the AD group and 33.3% in the LBD group (p 0.02); low level of schooling was present in both groups, with a higher percentage of illiterates in the LBD group (33.3% - p 0.04). The median MMSE was 15 (10-21) in the AD group and 15 (10-25) in the LBD group; clock drawing test: 3 (1-10) in the AD group and 1 (1-7) in the LBD group (p 0.015). QT-TCSREM-BR: 3 (1-11) in the AD group and 10 (2-13) in the LBD group (p <0.001). QT-TCSREM-BR ROC curve showed an accuracy of 0.853 to differentiate the two groups. The cutoff point of 6 showed sensitivity of 80% and specificity of 90%." @default.
