- W2896685770 abstract "Y-chromosomal short tandem repeats (Y-STRs) have aroused enough attention of public security bureau, due to its unique genetic traits that genetic markers derived from Y chromosomes are inherited within male lineages with no recombination [ [1] Skaletsky H. Nature. 2003; 423: 825-837 Crossref PubMed Scopus (1595) Google Scholar ]. Nowadays, Y-STRs are referred to as a fundamental tool in determination of the pedigree covering the suspects specifically. Thus, the development and improvement of Y-STR database are indispensable for forensic purposes. Han group, as China’s main nationality, distributes all over the country. Guizhou province from southwestern China is characterized by high diversity in ethnic composition embracing all the 56 nationalities together (http://info.gzgov.gov.cn/system/2013/06/18/012385028.shtml). Of which 17 are native minorities while Han population only accounts for 64.3% compared with the nationally average level (91.6%), ranking the bottom 5th among all China’s administrative provinces, municipalities, and regions (http://www.stats.gov.cn/tjsj/pcsj/rkpc/6rp/indexch.htm). The special ethnic composition of Guizhou province indicates frequent cultural communication and gene flows between Guizhou Han and other minority groups. Moreover, Shanxi province is a member of northern China. As opposite to Guizhou Han, the proportion of Shanxi Han population ranks the 1st place (99.7%), indicating the minimal gene exchanges of other nationalities with Shanxi Han group and its highly conservative inner population structure. Thus, it’s of high interests to dissect the genetic backgrounds of these two Han populations." @default.
