• W2896827581 abstract "Indonesia has the potential to experience various types of natural disasters. A region, such as Aceh, with high risk of natural disaster must have a comprehensive disaster risk assessment using the latest social, economic, and infrastructure conditions as part of the disaster management. This research aimed to explore the social, economic, and other factors that are likely to pose major risks when a disaster occurs, and to map the villages in the Aceh province based on their social-economic vulnerability.A data set consisting of 6512 villages in Aceh in 2014 was along with 30 mixed numerical and categorical variables. The novel approach of this study was the inclusion of categorical attributes, which would provide more informative and accurate results. Furthermore, the similarity of the characteristics between the villages within in the group was not only based on the proximity of the numerical variables to the center but was also the matched to the value of categorical variables. For the mapping, the K-Prototype algorithm with the genetic algorithm optimization was implemented to enhance the mapping results.The results show three distinct clusters based on vulnerability, access, and the environmental conditions. In addition, there were three main points generated when the characteristics of the groups were explored. First, villages in the third group are a reflection of their isolated location, with each of them having a large distance to another region as well as having less communication and information means, possibly even unavailable. Second, the minimum amount of health infrastructure, both the number of buildings and health workers in each group, needs to be considered because these facilities are needed to deal with disaster victims. Third, educational facilities in all three groups need to be improved to provide resources to ensure humans are ready to face disasters as well as being able to recover quickly after a disaster." @default.
