- W2896976260 abstract "Security and privacy of both institutions and individuals have always been a major concern. Authentication systems received significant attention from both researchers and practitioners. The most common authentication mechanisms used nowadays are the alphanumeric-based schemes. However, the passwords used in these kind of systems are subject to be forgotten by users and can be vulnerable to various types of attacks, while other types of authentication mechanisms such as biometric-based methods are not affordable by individuals and small institutions. On the other hand, graphical password schemes are proposed to harness the fact that individuals are able to remember graphical shapes and pictures more than remembering alphanumeric text. This paper proposes a new hybrid graphical password scheme using two-dimensional (2D) shapes to create passwords. in this new scheme, users are asked to use certain 2D shapes to draw their graphical password during registration. The drawn shapes are mapped into textual passwords. The mapping algorithm depends on the order of selected shapes and the intersections between shapes. During sign-in, users need only to remember how to draw the 2D graphical password using the same shapes with the same order and with the same intersections between shapes to access a system." @default.
