It is well known that drilling is one of the most commonly used machining operations in CFRP composite for structural assemblies. The viability of drillingactivity is based on surface roughness of the drilled holes. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the surface roughness while drilling of bi-directional carbon fiberreinforced polymer (BD CFRP) composites fabricated with and without nano particles. The BD CFRP composite laminates are made by hand-layup technique followed by Vacuum bagging for 24 hours. Taguchi L27 orthogonal array is utilizedfor conducting drilling experiments and Taguchi method is likewise chosen for predicting the qualities of the holes drilled by TiN coated carbide drills. The outcomeof the study demonstrates that there is a good correlation between the experimental and the predicted results of surface roughness. The outcome of the study alsodemonstrates that the most extreme effect on surface roughness is because of drill diameter, followed by spindle speed, feed rate and point angle. The analysis of thestudy reveals that drill diameter of 4 mm, spindle speed of 3000 rpm, feed rate of 10 mm/min and point angle of 90° are the ideal machining parameters for least surface roughness." @default.
