- W2897701464 abstract "The article explains the relevance of the title studying as a dominant among the framework components and the first signal sign about the artistic text. The names of domestic and foreign scholars who were engaged in the study of header models of artistic works are mentioned. The study of the titles of the novels «The Son of Liberty» and «The Blackthorn World» by Vasyl Shevchuk is argued with the necessity of their research. Therefore, the task of the research is to trace the history of the emergence of the titles; to define the model of the title based on existing typologies of tital-final complexes; to research the artistic functions of the titles. The titles of «The Son of Liberty» and «The Blackthorn World» are the same in terms of structure and a figurative reflection of the author’s concept. Both titles convey the author’s vision of life of one of the fundamental figures of national writing Taras Shevchenko in a metaphorical form.It was investigated that the first part of the dilogy was originally a part of the V. Shevchuk’s biographical story «The Sails» (1964), but the words «liberty» or common-root words are almost absent. Instead, in the novel «The Son of Liberty» all derivative words from the word «liberty» occur about 250 times. Such frequent usage of one of the title words fulfills the function of «twenty-fifth frame» and indicates the key of understanding of the author’s idea, demonstrates the pathos of the work. The main fragments of the novel are analyzed. The idea of freedom in the understanding of the character is read here. It turns out that Taras Shevchenko’s concept of freedom is reproduced in the novel in several dimensions. The liberty of the character was formed at the genetic level; and secondly, it points to the impossibility of physical limitation, the opposition of bondage. In all of the key episodes of the novel, T. Shevchenko’s ambition for spiritual and physical expression, which points to the symbolic nature of the title, is traced. It is established that the title of the second part of the dilogy also has nature symbolics. Taking into account the opinions of the reviewers of the «The Blackthorn World» and analyzing the text of the novel, we made conclusions about the semantic loading of the words of the title. The blackthorns for T. Shevchenko were both external circumstances of life and properties of the character of Shevchenko himself as the eternal seeker of the truth. It is noted that the author of the novel chose this form of expression as an internal monologue of the character for the best disclosure of the life of T. Shevchenko. Repeatedly the title «The Blackthorn World» is reflected in Shevchenko’ texts, which are quoted in the novel. Such a method indicates the possibility of interpreting the «blackthorn world» as a blackhorn path of the main character to Ukraine. Therefore, the titles «The Son of Liberty» and «The Blackthorn World» are symbolic and significant, in each of them the writer embodied his concept of understanding of Taras Shevchenko’s life and his artistic destiny." @default.
