- W2897734966 abstract "Geometry not only memorizing ability, but also mathematical understanding. Think Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) with high-order thinking skills (HOTS) questions aims to improve metacognition ability and students’ application of HOTS in understanding the material. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the learning model, the extent of emotional intelligence, and the interaction between the learning model and emotional intelligence in influencing students’ mathematical achievement. The research adopted a quasi-experimental approach with a 2x3 factorial design. The population in this research comprised senior high school students in the 11th grade in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Indonesia in the 2016/2017 academic year. The sample of 217 students was drawn using stratified cluster random sampling. According to the research findings, it can be concluded that students taught using TAPPS HOTS questions present better mathematical learning achievement than those taught using direct learning model. Moreover, students with high emotional intelligence have better learning achievement in mathematics than those with moderate and low emotional intelligence, mathematical attainment among students with moderate and low emotional intelligence does not differ significantly. There is no interaction between learning model and emotional intelligence. In conclusion, the findings show that using an appropriate learning model not only supports learning activities, making them more meaningful, but also emphasizes metacognitive ability and higher order thinking skills, thus significantly improving students’ achievement." @default.
