But there is no information about the best combination of MOL for growth and production of upland rice. Also, there is no information about interaction between MOL types and upland rice varieties. Initial characterization needs to be done before the liquid organic fertilizer is used in the field. This research aims to study the effect of some liquid organic fertilizer formulations (MOL) to seedlings growth on six upland rice varieties. This research was conducted in Jambi from June to August 2014. 23 liquid organic fertilizer formulations were made from combinations of ingredients, namely bamboo shoots, banana hump, bel fruit, fruit wastes, siam weed leaves, and tobacco. MOL was formulated from a single major material, mixture of two major ingredient sand mixture of three major ingredients. Each MOL was tested for germination of upland rice varieties namely Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang, Towuti, Inpago 8, Inpago 9 and Inpago 10. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The observed variables were germination percent and seedling height. The research results showed that different liquid organic fertilizer formulations have different effect on six upland rice varieties. Generally, mixing of two major ingredients or three major ingredients in making of MOL has no negative effect on seedlings of upland rice." @default.
