• W2897762227 abstract "To determine development of diagnosis and outcome of fetuses prenatally diagnosed with NTD. A retrospective evaluation of diagnosis and management of cases of the fetuses, diagnosed with NTD between the years 2007 and 2017 in our centre of fetal medicine. From January 2007 to December 2017 we diagnosed 160 fetuses with NTD. The average age of the women was 30.4 years. The diagnosis was set between 11 and 33 weeks of pregnancy, with the average of 16.3 weeks. Average value of MS AFP was 3.8 MoM (0.79-8.73). In case of 23 (15%) fetuses a chromosomal aberration was present. In two cases (1.2%) the screening was falsely negative. Anencephalus was diagnosed in 46 fetuses, of which in 34 (76%) cases in the first trimester and in 12 (26%) cases in the second trimester. 45 (97%) women asked for TOP. Encephalocele was diagnosed in 16 fetuses. 13 (81%) fetuses with encephalocele were diagnosed in the first trimester, 3 (19%) in the second trimester. Spina bifida (SB) was diagnosed in 98 fetuses and in the first trimester only in 4 (4%) cases. In the second trimester SB was diagnosed in 98 cases. 89 (91%) women asked for TOP. 5 children were born alive with a prenatally diagnosed SB, in one case after a previous intrauterine operation. In total, there were 154 (96%) pregnancies with a prenatally diagnosed NTD terminated. In 44 (98%) cases because of anencephalus, in 16 (100%) because of encephalocele and in 83 (94%) because of the diagnosis of SB. In case of patients, examined in the first trimester in our fetal medicine clinic, we diagnosed 100% of fetuses with the diagnosis of anencephalus and encephalocele. In case of fetuses with spina bifida, we were, in the first trimester, successful in determining or detecting a suspicion of SB only in 30% of cases. Our centre is not successful in diagnosing spina bifida in the first trimester yet. The percentage (94%) of terminated pregnancies, with a diagnosed defect of a spinal canal, is also rather high.
