- W2897850912 abstract "L10-FeNi has attracted enormous attention as a possible rare-earth free permanent magnetic material due to its extraordinary magnetic response. Although the measured value of magnetocrystalline anisotropy of L10-FeNi relatively oscillates around 1 MJ/m3 but even such high value is insufficient to raise its potential as hard magnetic materials. There are other L10-ordered compounds; FePt and CoPt which have large MCA originating from a strong spin-orbit coupling of Pt atom. Therefore, we have investigated the electronic and magnetic properties of pristine and Pt-doped FeNi under the framework of first-principles calculations performed by full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. Our calculations impart that magnetocrystalline anisotropy of FeNi sufficiently increases on Pt-substitutional doping at negligible cost of saturation magnetization. Moreover, estimated maximum energy product and coercivity also enhance on this substitution. Hence, the spin-orbit coupling of Pt raises the potential of L10-FeNi as a permanent magnetic material." @default.
