- W2898078859 abstract "Ingestion of small amounts of grapes, raisins, currants, and lilies can result in acute kidney injury. If intervention occurs soon after ingestion, there is an opportunity to reduce toxin absorption and prevent more significant organ damage. Because many pet owners are unaware of the toxicity of these plants, clinicians should specifically ask about potential exposure in any patient with newly diagnosed acute kidney injury. Mortality rates are typically greater than 50% for patients developing acute kidney injury after ingestion of these plants. It may take several weeks to fully recover from acute kidney injury and complications such as oligoanuria, hyperkalemia, nausea, and vomiting must be adequately managed. Extracorporeal renal replacement therapy may be required to better manage oligoanuric patients." @default.
