- W2898129227 abstract "Asphalt-concrete wearing course is located in the top layer of road asphalt. The composition of asphalt concrete wearing course which is a mixture that is designed for loads that have high durability capable of receiving all types of work load and pass it to the layer below. Indonesia's tropical climatic conditions as well as the increasing number of vehicle loads are often the main cause of deformation and cracking of the asphalt concrete layer - wearing course. That requires a mixture of asphalt that can improve road quality (stability) as well as the life of roads (durability) but still maintain the value of flexibility. To obtain a better bitumen mixture we can use additional materials that can increase the value of stability and durability. This research was conducted in the Civil Engineering Laboratory of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. To determine the Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) we used of variation asphalt content 4%, 5%, 6%, and 7% from total weight of aggregate, and using 5% crumb rubber from the total weight of asphalt. The value of OAC is determined by using the arrow range method of the existing Marshall parameter, obtained the optimum asphalt content value of 5.85%. Subsequently made a specimen for standard immersion at 0.5 hour and 24 hours, while for modified immersion using variations of 48 hours and 96 hours. Then Marshall testing and durability analysis consist of Remaining Strength Index (RSI), First Durability Index (FDI), and Second Durability Index (SDI).The result of this research using Marshall test shows that stability value using crumb rubber is higher compared to specimen without crumb rubber, it can be interpreted that crumb rubber can increase strength and stability value and make the mixture stronger. The results of durability test analysis that the value of RSI 48 hours immersion of 90.67% for using crumb rubber and 90.60% for without crumb rubber. The FDI value increased at 96 hours of immersion by 0.33% for using crumb rubber and 0.38% for without crumb rubber, so until 96 hours of immersion the mixture was still very durable, since the mixture said was not durable when the FDI value >1%. The total SDI value for 96 hours is 4.34% for using crumb rubber and 4.60% for without crumb rubber. FDI and SDI values indicate that AC - WC tends to the power loss for 96 hours of immersion. Keywords: AC – WC, Crumb Rubber, Marshall Characteristic, Stabiliy, and Durability." @default.
