• W2898855757 abstract "A 3-level T-type inverter that employs the auxiliary commutated pole inverter (ACPI) concept for fully soft-switched operation, is presented in this paper for the first time. This way, switching loss and dv/dt stress can be reduced, with little auxiliary loss and small resonant components. Importantly, the high-frequency content of the EMI source, i.e., the output voltage, can be attenuated in a controlled and predictable manner, with the help of the ACPI concept. This way, applications with stringent EMI standards such as the engine starter/generator drive for more electric aircraft (MEA), can doubly benefit from the superior AC waveform quality and the attenuated high-frequency EMI of the novel inverter, with increased power density. The 3-level ACPI resonant operation is described, and the analytical expressions that dictate it are derived through an equivalent LC circuit. SABER simulations are provided for proof of concept. It is observed that in the high-frequency region above 2 MHz, the 3-level ACPI enjoys a 16-dB reduction in harmonic content, compared to the hard-switched T-type converter." @default.
