• W2899958474 abstract "This paper develops the scheduling method of a wind-thermal pumped storage system. The wind system as one of the most renewable source of energy widely used is characterized by high speed fluctuations. Based on the system development of better wind-thermal coordination; economic dispatch (ED) determines the optimal scheme that can integrate wind power reliably and efficiently. In this study a wind-thermal system consisting of six thermal units and a wind farm are used; the focus is on the optimization techniques for meeting the load demand with minimum operating cost. The effect of hourly output from water pumped storage schemes on the thermal units are also considered. Numerical results on this practical system show that the operating costs are decreasing by increasing the pumped storage power. Various techniques are provided in case of failure of largest unit; with the spinning reserve, the unit commitment approach involves various scheduled of the online and off-line reserve units." @default.
