- W2900855963 abstract "Inverter drive motors with higher voltage, higher-speed switching and efficiency are required in various industrial sectors. The problem in inverter drive motors is the inverter surge voltage due to high-speed switching, which can cause partial discharge (PD) and degradation of insulation performance of motors. The purpose of present research is to establish the diagnostic technique for high voltage equipment, based on PD detection by loop sensors. Determination of a PD location in an actual stator core provides its optimal insulation design. In the present paper, the PD location in an actual stator core was determined by detecting the electromagnetic (EM) wave using several loop sensors, located in the depth direction and the circumferential direction of the actual stator core. As a result, the arrival time difference of EM wave was measured at each sensor. The arrival time of EM wave was calculated by cumulative energy method. It can be seen EM waveform arrival time difference method allows PD location with accuracy of 1/48 in the actual stator core." @default.
