For this purpose, fifteen different types of shelter designs are considered and the effects of the height and porosity levels of these shelters are examined. A Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code based on the Lattice Boltzmann Method is used for the simulation purposes. Verification of the simulation results is performed by comparing them to wind tunnel experimental results that some of them are reported by other researchers and some others are obtained within the course of this research. It is concluded that porous shelters with porosity levels of 15% have a better performance in dampening the effects of the winds before they can reach to the trains. Such shelters can be used to reduce the deteriorating effects of the aerodynamic forces and momentums on the train." @default.
