The fermentation and enzyme production was completed in 84 h. The laccase activity was maximum at pH 6.0 and temperature 40 °C. The laccase decolorized the dyes up to a maximum 75% in 6 h. The degradation of Acid Red 97 to Naphthalene 1,2-dione and 3-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthylazo) benzenesulfonic acid through oxidation catalysed by laccase were analysed by 1H NMR and LC/MS. The rate of decolorization was further improved to 93% using mediators. FTIR analysis confirmed the degradation of other dyes by the P. scoparia laccase. The enzyme showed potential for translation to a price-competitive and viable product as well as a clean and sustainable green process for dye decolorization." @default.
