- W2901687466 abstract "Abstract This chapter provides an overview of the chemical modification of nanotubes and the properties inherited, along with applications of carbon nanotubes in various forms. A carbon nanotube is one of the most promising materials used in the field of materials technology for its exceptional physical and chemical properties, such as high aspect ratio, flexibility, and nano range usage. They also possess very good mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, and magnetic properties because of their inherent size, structure, and shape. Based on these characteristics, nanotubes are used in diversified applications like energy, nano fabrics, optical engineering, defense and security, nano devices, and bimetallic nanocomposites for biomedical applications. To achieve specific properties for nanotubes they need to be chemically modified by different techniques, such as ball milling, microwave-induced modification, electrochemically assisted covalent modification, and electroless deposition method. These techniques are discussed in this chapter, along with a description of rubber nanocomposites and nanocomposite applications." @default.
