- W2901765093 abstract "In order to study the method and its feasibility of applying the GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) to predicting the water content of road structure layer, on the basis of Guangzhou~Shenzhen expressway in China, the type of SIR-3000 GPR was adopted to make field measurement for 1300m test section. The water content of structure was measured respectively with the method of core-drilling and TOPP empirical equation, and a comparison was made among the results from these two ways mentioned above. Facts and figures find that among 632 drilled cores, the estimation value of water content of 485 drilled cores is nearly equivalent to the lab measured value, as the maximum and the minimum difference value is 7.4% and 3.1%, while the difference value is obvious of the other left 147 drilled cores, as the maximum and the minimum difference value reaches 23.2% and 8.6% respectively. It shows that the application of GPR and TOPP equation to predict the water content for road structure layer is feasible to some extent, but also the certain error is existed, and it is necessary to improve the spot detection method and this empirical equation when predict the water content of road structure layer with the method of GPR. Results can provide certain reference for non-destructive detection of water content for road structure layer." @default.
