- W2901889815 abstract "Temperature decrease is one of the main environmental factors affecting the quality of many agricultural crops. Lentil is one of the cold region legume which will be damaged as a result of severely cold weather. In this regard, determining the coldness-resistance of different varieties of lentil can be important. In this study, the resistance of three lentil varieties against coldness stress was studied and compared through parameters such as chlorophyll content, chlorophyll fluorescence and enzyme activities. Three lentil varieties named ILL-2580 with Indian origin, Precoz with Argentinian origin and Bilehsavar variety with Iranian origin were cultivated completely randomly in three replicas at 25℃. After being treated with coldness stress at 2℃ for 48 h, some of their physiobiological, biochemical and molecular aspects were evaluated. According to farm studies, ILL-2580 is sensitive to coldness by more than %80 damage it also has lower seeds in comparison with the other two varieties as a result of cold weather. Bilehsavar and Precoz varieties were coldness-tolerant and had better performance than ILL-2580 in terms of seed performance. Experimental results showed that coldness treatment significantly decreased photochemical efficiency of photosystem II and fluorescence maximum (FM) in ILL-2580 when compared with control samples. However, in minimum fluorescence (FO) no significant difference occurred as the result of coldness stress. Chlorophyll content had significant increase in Precoz variety. Proline content also had a significant increase as the result of coldness in this variety. Also, proline content showed a significant increase due to coldness in all the varieties when compared with the control samples. in ILL-2580, wet weight in aerial organs decrease significantly, while for Bilehsavar variety, the root wet weight showed significant decrease for Precoz variety, both aerial organ and root wet weights increased significantly. Activities of antioxidant enzymes such as ascorbate peroxidase and poly phenol oxidase and also protease in treatment group were significantly different with each other. Ascorbate peroxidase activity was different in control samples of different varieties. But, activities of catalase, protease, poly phenol oxidase and total protein were not different in control samples. Protease activity in precoz and poly phenol oxidase in Bilehsavar variety had significant difference which can be a reason for their tolerance in comparison with ILL-2580. Protein content of Precoz was significantly increased in comparison with the other varieties which indicated that this variety is more tolerant toward coldness when compared with Bilehsavar. Anthocyanins content was significantly increased in Bilehsavar variety; also, flavonoids and anthocyanin were significant among the controls of different varieties. Considerable changes can be observed in electrophoresis pattern on aerial organs proteins in all three varieties in the form of adding or removing some of bonds." @default.
