- W290203003 abstract "It has been shown that hyperthermia alone or in combination with radiation or some cytotoxic drugs causes greater damage in tumor tissue than in normal tissue. This effect is attributed to a higher sensitivity of tumor cells to heat and to changes in the microenvironment of the malignant tissue. Alterations were found in blood flow, oxygen tension and tissue pH. To some extent these alterations may be related to changes in hemostasis, for instance fibrinogen deposition in the tumor favoring tumor necrosis." @default.
