The aerodynamic forces on a stationary circular cylinder and the displacement of an elastically mounted cylinder were measured using the same model at same wind speeds corresponding to Reynolds number from 1 . 2 × 1 0 5 to 4 . 3 × 1 0 5 to reveal the characteristics of aerodynamic forces and potential vibrations in different regimes. The results show that the large amplitude vibrations of a dry circular cylinder under normal wind conditions can be excited by unsteady reattachment only during a transitional process between flow regimes rather than throughout the entire critical Reynolds number range." @default.
