- W2904231390 abstract "Ceramics ferrites with nanometric sizes and superparamagnetic properties are synthesized materials for their use in biomedical areas due to the possibility to interact with the human body at cellular scale. With this purpose, the main objective of this work was the synthesis and characterization of gallium-cobalt ferrites (CoxGa1-xFe2O4, x = 0.1) by thermal decomposition method with the end to evaluate their potential use in biomedicas areas as a result of the developed magnetic properties, size and crystalline structure of the samples. The synthesized samples showed a spinel structure in all evaluated compositions and changes in the final magnetization (22.4–62.19 emu/g), remnant magnetization (0.03–4.88 emu/g), coercive field (1.39–131.4 Oe) and crystallite size (4.3–11.8 nm) were observed as cobalt ions were replaced by gallium cations. TEM and FT-IR techniques allowed to determine an average particle size of 5.7 ± 1.4 nm, a spherical morphology and a hydrophilic coating deposited in situ on nanoparticles surface, while by XPS characterization the oxidation states of the constituent cations and the chemical composition of the samples were determined. Showed results indicated that selected samples have a superparamagnetic behavior, a reduced size and a hydrophilic chemical surface, making this particles suitable for their potential use as theranostic agents for diagnosis and drug delivery and as thermo seeds by hyperthermia treatment." @default.
