Myopic progression was evaluated by cycloplegic autorefraction and axial length (AL) every 6 months in children 6 to 15 years old. Univariate analysis and multiple logistic regression were applied. Around 82 children with median age of 10.3 ± 2.3 years. Myopia progressed by −0.816 ± 0.6 D over 18 months. Increased myopic spherical equivalent refraction (SER) was correlated with increase in AL (P < 0.001). Univariate analysis found SER to be significantly associated with: age, especially between 6 and 9.4 years old (P = 0.001), parental myopia (P = 0.028), and less time spent outdoors (P = 0.009). There was a significantly greater increase in SER during months with the least daylight hours (P < 0.001). Outdoor activities and daylight have a protective effect against increased AL and progression of myopia. Younger children with significant myopia should be monitored closely, especially those around 6 years old with myopic parents. La progression de la myopie a été évaluée avec l’autoréfraction cycloplégique et la longueur axiale (LA) chaque 6 mois parmi les enfants de 6 à 15 ans. Un analyse univarié et une régression logistique multiple a été réalisé. Environ 82 enfants avec un âge moyen de 10,3 ± 2,3 ans. La myopie progresse de −0,816 ± 0,6 D en 18 mois. L’augmentation de l’équivalent sphérique de réfraction myopique (ESR) est liée à l‘augmentation de la LA (p < 0,001). L’analyse univariée trouve que l’ ESR est significativement associé avec l’âge, notamment de 6 à 9,4 ans (p = 0,001), la myopie dans les parents (p = 0,028) et moins d’heures passées à l’extérieur (p = 0,009). L’augmentation de l’ESR est plus importante pendant les mois avec moins d’heures de lumière. (p < 0,001). Les activités à l’extérieur et la lumière du jour ont un effet protecteur sur l‘accroissement de la LA et la progression de la myopie.
