- W2904264844 abstract "Cathode materials as a pivotal element of sodium ion batteries, directly influence the corresponding specific capacity and cycling performance of the whole system. NaxMnO2 (0 < x ≤ 1) materials have aroused much attention on account of their eco-friendliness and abundant manganese resources. However, there are still few reports centered on building binder-free NaxMnO2 arrays directly as cathode for sodium ion batteries. Herein, we subtly deposit NaxMnO2 nanosheet arrays on Ni foam via the facile “sodiation and calcination” method. In contrast to previously reported powdered NaxMnO2 cathode materials, this tailored NaxMnO2 nanosheet array electrode reflect smoother charge-discharge curves with an average discharge voltage around 3.3 V (vs. Na/Na+) at a current rate of 0.25 C, corresponding to a reversible capacity of 155.4 mAh g−1. Fortunately, there are no obvious voltage plateaus between 2.0 and 3.0 V (vs. Na/Na+), which might be attributed to the suppressed Mn3+ reaction resulted from this nanostructured array design. What's more, this NaxMnO2 cathode demonstrates satisfied rate capability and cycling performance, maintaining a high initial capacity of 82.6 mAh g−1 and a satisfied capacity retention up to 87.5% after 500 cycles at a high rate of 6 C. It can be predicated that this nanostructured array strategy may pave the way for maximizing the cyclic stability of NaxMnO2-based cathode materials." @default.
