Partindo dessas premissas, este artigo tem por objetivo investigar como sao usadas as imagens apresentadas nos livros didaticos de Historia, do ponto de vista da pratica pedagogica, no cotidiano da sala de aula no Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa, com abordagem qualitativa, possui carater bibliografico, documental e de campo. Os autores que deram apoio teorico aos estudos foram Bittencourt (2006, 2012), ViA±ao-Frago (2008), Gaskel (2011), StrA¶her (2012) e Certeau (2014). Para a coleta dos dados, foram realizadas observacoes durante as aulas em tres turmas de diferentes anos do Ensino Fundamental, de tres escolas privadas de grande porte, localizadas em Curitiba. Foram realizadas, tambem, entrevistas com professores de Historia das referidas escolas. Os resultados possibilitaram compreender o posicionamento de professores e autores no trabalho com imagens, no contexto das aulas de Historia no Ensino Fundamental. Textbook and images: an analysis of their use in the teaching of history Abstract The textbook, despite the numerous resources available for teaching history, remains a widely used tool by teachers in the classroom. Images, in turn, help in the process of visual construction of history in the development of critical thinking and the production of historical knowledge by the student. Based on these premises, the article aims to investigate how the images presented in history textbooks are used from the point of view of the teaching practice in the everyday classroom in elementary school. The research, with a qualitative approach, has bibliographical, documentary and field aspects. Authors who gave theoretical support to the studies were Bittencourt (2006, 2012), ViA±ao Frago (2008), Gaskell (2011), StrA¶her (2012) and Certeau (2014). To collect the data, observations were made during the classes in three classrooms from different years of elementary school at three large private schools located in Curitiba. There were also interviews with history teachers at these schools. The results enabled us to understand the position of teachers and authors when working with images in the context of history lessons in elementary school. Keywords : Use of images to teach History.
