• W2906439051 abstract "This paper proposes a virtual inertia control scheme for variable speed wind turbine. Two suboptimal operating curves (SOOC) which are the kinetic energy stored (KES) curve and the kinetic energy released (KER) curve are defined and employed as the basis of the scheme. Under normal condition, the wind turbine (WT) operates at the KES curve. When grid frequency drops, by shifting the WT operating curve from the KES curve towards the KER curve according to the deviation of grid frequency, the rotor kinetic energy can be efficiently injected into the grid. The additional df/dt feed-forward loop is applied in the virtual inertia control scheme to accelerate the inertia response. As verified by the paper, the SOOC shifting mechanism can significantly reduce the conflict between the df/dt loop and the original WT control loops. Simulations on the IEEE 39-bus system verify that the proposed method can reduce the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF) and improve the grid frequency nadir." @default.
