- W2907507248 abstract "Purpose of work. The research deals with the key points and the origin of the concept and phenomenon – in different types of art: painting, literature, cinema and music. Methodology of the research involves application of etymological, historical and comparative methods. Mentioned etymological analysis of this concept allows us to analyze the concept capriccio by means of encyclopedias, different encyclopedic sources, dictionaries and musicological works. A genre definition of capriccio has been known since the XVI century, though its firm apprehension does not exist. Consideration of historical genre testifies that the concept capriccio spread gradually and it became used in different musical genres; from individual plays to operas, however retaining its contextual stressing. Scientific novelty of the work involves expansion of the concept and phenomenon of capriccio. We have given our own definition of the genre capriccio, which appeared many centuries ago, which is related to different art forms and which is always changing, absorbing new and new genre peculiarities. Conclusions. Capriccio or caprice is a small, capricious in character, quick, virtuoso instrumental play (for solo instrument or for orchestra), often of program content (covert or evident); usually of a free form; filled with unexpected (harmonic, rhythmic, textured, conceptual) expressions and comparisons, with possible acute, provocative rhythm; which synthesizes different genre features." @default.
