- W2909372130 abstract "The paper presents comparative analysis of the long-term dynamics of performances of 123 athletes, winners and prize-winners of 1988–2016 Olympic Games, 2001–2007 World Championships and the Olympic Games of 1956–1984 in long jumps and a triple jump. Objective – to determine the long-term dynamics of athletes’ results (prize-winners of the Olympic Games and World championships), who specialize in track and field jumps. Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific-methodical literature and information of the World Internet, data of the All-Athletics Information Base, printed and electronic sources of the Association of Athletics Statisticians; analysis of biographies of athletes, protocols of competitions, methods of mathematical statistics. Conclusions. It was found that only 14 % of the athletes who specialized in long jumps, became prizewinners of the Games of the Olympiad and the World championships at the age of 19–22 years, most of athletes got on the podium at the age of 23–26 years (49 %), and 37 % jumpers won medals at the age of 28–35 years. In triple jump the ratios were as follows: 21–22 years – 12 %; 23–27 years – 50 %; 28–36 years – 38 % of athletes. Compared to 1984–1988, the number of prize-winners of the Olympic Games of the younger age decreased three times; the limit of maintaining the highest achievements in long jump and triple jump increased more than threefold and twofold, respectively, whereas the number of athletes aged 28–36 years increased three times and two times, respectively. Conducted studies indicate the extension of the period of performances of outstanding athletes at high-level. The extension of the age range compared to the recommendations specific for track and field athletes of 1960s–1980s was due to the shift of the age limit towards the older age, which is optimal for achieving the highest results and extending the boundary of maintaining higher achievements" @default.
