• W2909579209 abstract "Compared with traditional underwater acoustic communication, underwater wireless optical communication has the advantages of high speed and high bandwidth. However, the signal strength and the communication distance are limited by the severe optical attenuation caused by seawater absorption and scattering. At present, for the middle-long range laser communication, there is no analytic method which covers both spatial variable and temporal variable can be solved expediently. The Monte Carlo method provides an alternative that is able to evaluate the underwater laser communication system. In this paper, a simple structure which includes the photon guns of a specific wavelength and the environment of pure seawater is emulated by the GEANT4. We simulate the propagation of beam spread of different powers and different distances. The simulation results verify that the communication distance is able to exceed 100m with the transmission rate is 1Mbps and the signal wavelength is 488nm. The characteristics of photon distribution in underwater are simulated from different perspectives." @default.
