- W2912012481 abstract "‘Electromagnetic transient’ refers to transients that involve the interaction between the energy stored in the magnetic fields of the inductances and electric field of the capacitances in the system. The three transmission line models commonly used in electromagnetic transient programs are PI section, Bergeron and frequency-dependent line; the latter two being classed as travelling wave models. The PI section model is used for short lines, where the travel time is less than the time step. Bergeron's method provides a simple and elegant travelling wave mode. Electromagnetic transient and d.c. (EMTDC) is an implementation of the EMTP-type method, initially designed for the solution of ac-dc power systems. This chapter contains a selection of test cases of different time frames. Although simple, these circuits are chosen to illustrate the main problems involved in digital transient simulation and demonstrate the broad capability of the Electromagnetic Transient Simulation programs." @default.
