- W2912160295 abstract "The endocrine agents used in oncology include estrogen receptor modulators and downregulators, aromatase inhibitors, luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonists, antiandrogens, androgens, estrogen, somatostatin analogs, and progestational agents. These therapies generally have a low reported incidence of dermatologic adverse events (AEs). Tamoxifen and other selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) bind the estrogen receptor (ER) and antagonize the proliferative effects of estrogen in normal breast tissue and breast tumors. Fulvestrant is an estrogen receptor antagonist that causes degradation of the ER. Fulvestrant is indicated for ER+ metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Flutamide, an antiandrogen, has been used in the treatment of prostate cancer for over three decades. Recent studies have shown that the persistence and adherence to hormonal therapies may be as low as 50%, underscoring the importance of minimizing any event that would negatively impact patients’ willingness to receive therapy." @default.
