- W2912228609 abstract "New Zealand has a publicly funded health care system delivered through District Health Boards. The directors of each board are either publicly elected or appointed by the Minister of Health. Directors have a leadership role to ensure health dollars are appropriately prioritized and effective healthcare if provided for each district. The quantitative survey study investigated the perceived level of group efficacy in New Zealand health governing boards. Group efficacy relates to a group’s decision making and persistence for the prioritization of complex decision making and resource allocation. The premise was that high levels of group efficacy would generate high levels of decision making and prioritization for complex and competing health decisions. The research design incorporated a 19-item survey tool, which measured potency and behaviors to determine group efficacy. The results for the hypotheses showed a high correlation between potency items and behavior items. While there is not a definitive test for group efficacy, the method used in the research study can be replicated in other studies giving a new test for quantitative group efficacy determination. The findings will assist the development of future health leadership where there is a need to effectively prioritize for complex competing health resource allocation. Recommendations were centred on further studies to measure group efficacy in governance, and on health leadership to improve national health outcomes." @default.
