- W2912495536 abstract "Abstract The corrosive damages of plain concretes in marine environments are mainly attributed to delayed ettringite generated by liquid and solid phase reactions caused by sulfate ions entering concrete pores. This study investigated the correlation of corrosive crack propagation rate and growth rate of delayed ettringite. Cement mortar with water/cement ratio of 0.45 was employed as test sample and was immersed in 8% sodium sulfate solution. First, the correlation of corrosive crack length and corrosion time was obtained. Then, a temporal and spatial model considering the diffusion of sulfate ions and chemical reactions involved was established for the growth of delayed ettringite. The obtained results indicate that the growth of delayed ettringite is directly proportional to crack propagation. Based on that, we proposed a crack propagation model under sulfate corrosion. Also, sensitivity analysis of the diffusion model of sulfate ions was conducted and the obtained results indicated that damage played a key role in sulfate ions transmission." @default.
