• W2912793962 abstract "In recent years, the use of magnesium alloys has increased due to its low density. However, due to its low strength, its applications are limited. One of the methods that can improve the mechanical and metallurgical properties of material is the severe plastic deformation process of hot press. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of hot press process parameters on the mechanical and metallurgical properties of AZ91C alloy. The samples were examined at 300, 340, 380, and 420 °C temperatures for 15 and 30 min of preheating, with a strain of 50%. Optical microscopy, standard tensile test and microhardness test were used to study mechanical and metallurgical properties. The results indicated that the recrystallization of microstructure caused to grain refinement and improving the mechanical properties in samples. Also, increasing of temperature lead to smaller grain sizes due to more recrystallization in cases preheated at 15 min. When preheating time is 30 min, the recrystallized microstructure has enough time to grain growth. Therefore, the mechanical properties show a different manner by increasing of the temperature. For the processed sample at 420 °C, during the preheating period of 15 min, the highest strength of 338.8 MPa, maximum microhardness of 64.3 VHN and the best elongation of 3.7% was obtained." @default.
