- W2913245514 abstract "This chapter proposes a stochastic geometry framework for analysing the performance of an ultra-dense network (UDN), and derives the analytical results for the coverage probability as well as the area spectral efficiency (ASE) of a UDN under a practical distance-dependent Rician fading channel with a variant Rician K factor using a general path loss model that incorporates both non-line of sight (NLoS) and line of sight (LoS) transmissions. It obtains integral-form expressions for the coverage probability and the ASE using a 3GPP path loss model with a linear LoS probability function. The chapter presents simulation results and derives the main insights, which reveals an important finding, i.e. due to the dominance of path loss in UDNs, the impact of the multi-path fading is negligible, and thus when the density of small cell BSs exceeds a certain threshold, the network coverage probability will decrease as small cell base stations (BSs) become denser." @default.
