• W2913594311 abstract "C3N is structurally similar to C3B, and has been successfully fabricated in a recent experiment (2017 Adv. Mater. 29 1605625). This provides a possibility for designing in-plane heterostructure devices. Here, the hybrid configurations of zigzag C3N nanoribbon (ZCNNR) and zigzag C3B nanoribbon (ZCBNR) are proposed, and their quantum transport properties are systematically investigated by applying nonequilibrium Green's functions in combination with the density functional theory. A metal → semiconductor → metal transition behavior is observed by tuning the ratios of the number of ZCNNR and ZCBNR units, which is confirmed to originate from the change of HOMO-LUMO gap. Meanwhile, we find that the different edge decorations in the hybrid configuration give rise to not only the change of electron transmission modes but also the occurrence of rectification effect. Moreover, a p-n heterojunction device is also proposed by constructing the hybrid connection of ZCNNR and ZCBNR along the direction of electron transport, and an obvious rectification phenomenon is observed. Especially, two different rectification mechanisms are found in these hybrid configurations. The mechanisms of these electronic transport phenomena are explored in details." @default.
