- W2913681708 abstract "This chapter describes some aspects of classical psychoanalytic aesthetic experience. It focuses on W. Ronald Fairbairn's contributions on art and artistic creation. The central idea, as arises almost immediately from Melanie Klein's theses, is that there is a narrow relationship between art and the depressive position. Art does not occur with splitting, fragmentation of the self, projective identification, nor with hate for the object, but, rather, in the relationship established towards the total object, which is lost but repaired and restored. The chapter focuses on a scientific and mutual framework from which Fairbairn's thinking may have emerged. The Freudian model of the production aesthetic is, it is tinder-stood, dreaming and reverie—where there is the ever-present movement of the central trio of repression-failure of repression-return of the repressed. It is therefore in the light of the internal conflicts of the creator that the aesthetic object becomes comprehensible, following a process of deciphering that enables one to surpass oneself while a mask." @default.
