They are promising with a wide range of applications, especially in sensors based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). Simulations play an important role in this research area. In this chapter, we first introduce the basic theories of LSPR. Then four general simulation methods—Mie theory, finite-difference time-domain method, discrete dipole approximation, finite element methods—are presented. Finally, several examples are presented to illustrate the application of these simulation methods to predict the optical properties of hybrid nanoparticles." @default.
