- W2915505988 abstract "Laminar wall jet of Glauert kind is revisited in this paper taking into account the physical mechanisms of wall slip in both velocity and temperature. Such a jet issuing into a stationary fluid medium resting above a wall has technological applications in flow control and wall cooling. In the current work, we show that when the physical mechanisms of wall transpiration (suction) and surface slip are gathered, the existing self-similar solutions to the Glauert jet can be extended to cover for the slip influences at the wall. The range of slipping parameter permitted by the exact jet solutions is identified. Afterwards, contributions to the thermal boundary layer and heat transfer rate are analytically analyzed. It is found that the presence of velocity slip drops the skin friction at the wall pointing to less drag forces and enhanced heat transfer rates designating the cooled wall. However, the temperature jump is shown to suppress the temperature field and hence lower the heat transfer rates from the plate upon which the jet is acting." @default.
