- W2916874998 abstract "ABSTRACTMost neurocognitive theory applied to literature attempts to explain how literature affects readers and influences their brains. Only a few critics have started to explore what traces of neurocognitive patterning are exhibited in the literature. This study started with Neil Gaiman’s Ocean at the End of the Lane and looked at its use of several Kipling and Calvino texts, but it found that those sources also exhibited neurocognitive patterns—very different patterns despite similar situations. Hence, I triangulate among the texts and theory, trying to see what bicameral values can illuminate in literature and, more specifically, the creation of fantasy." @default.
