- W2922136988 abstract "Background and Objective: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most important human pathogenic bacteria, which due to its becoming increasingly resistant to various antibiotics including penicillin, oxacillin, vancomycin, macrolides, linezolids required particular attention. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern rate of resistance of isolates collected from clinical samples among hospitalized patients in Golestan and Imam Khomeini hospitals in Ahwaz, Iran. Subjects and Methods: In the present study, a total of 325 suspected isolates of Staphylococcus aureus collected from clinical samples, 200 isolates were identified as Staphylococcus aureus, after performance of standard diagnostic tests including mannitol salt agar, coagulase, DNase agar and catalase. The identified isolates were studied according to CLSI Standards by disc fusion method using antibiogram discs containing oxacillin, vancomycin, erythromycin, azithromycin or linezolid. Results: All isolates were sensitive to linezolid and vancomycin. Resistance against meticillin, azithromycin and erythromycin was 50, 61.5 and 59 %, respectively. In addition, 25% of islotaes of Staphylococcus aureus were concurrently resistant to meticillin, azithromycin and erythromycin. Conclusion: Resistance to the methicillin relative to the previous years has increased noticeable, but there was no resistance to vancomycin and linezolid. ►Please cite this paper as: Faraj Zadeh Sheykh A, Ranjbar Y, Meghdadi H, Nazar Zadeh N, Shakori Fard R.
