- W2933972571 abstract "In recent years, an increasing numbers of Chinese international secondary school students have come to study in Canada. Upon arriving in their international context, their academic studies are influenced by transnational and global and local socio-economic and cultural forces. Guided by the notion of ‘cosmopolitanism,’ (Beck, 2002; Rizvi, 2008, 2009), this paper examines how multiple sources of transnational social and cultural discourses converge to govern Chinese international secondary school students’ academic studies in Canada. Through an ethnographic field study, this paper gives insights to teacher education and teacher development programs about how to teach Chinese international secondary school students in a cosmopolitan and transnational environment." @default.
