• W2937108500 abstract "This meta-analysis was performed to assess the association between genetic polymorphisms of NOS3 894G>T (rs1799983) and TGF- β 915G>C (rs1800471) with the risk of diabetic nephropathy (DN). A systematic literature search was performed to collect and select eligible and relevant studies by electronic databases such as Embase, PubMed and Cochrane Library. Based on the genetic models/contrast such as allelic model, dominant model, recessive model and over-dominant the odds ratio and 95% confidence interval were assessed. Heterogeneity and publication bias was performed to evaluate quality of the study. The data showed significant associations between eNOS 894G>T polymorphism and risk of diabetic nephropathy in terms of allele contrast, dominant model, over dominant and recessive models T vs G, OR= 0.80, 95% CI: 0.75-0.86, p<0.0001; [TT+TG vs GG, OR=0.81, 95% CI: 0.68-0.95, p=0.01; TG vs TT+GG, OR = 1.26, 95% CI:1.16-1.38, p<0.0001; TT vs TG+GG, OR=0.75, 95% CI: 0.69-0.82, p<0.0001]. In addition the subgroup study based on ethnicity, allele contrast, recessive, dominant, over dominant, pairw1, pairw2, pairw3 also indicated a significant association with the risk of DN. However, no association was observed between TGF- β 915G>C polymorphism and risk of diabetic nephropathy. Our findings suggested that NOS3 894G>T rs1799983 polymorphism is associated with increased risk of DN whereas TGF- β 915G>C rs1800471 didn’t show any association. However more reliable studies are required to investigate the association of these polymorphisms with the development of DN." @default.
