- W2937734770 abstract "Objective: To establish the no-invasive method to evaluate melanin repigmentation in the vitiligo lesions before and after NB-UVB treatment. Methods: This study was approved by the ethical committee of affiliated hospital of Guizhou Medical University. Before NB-UVB treatment, the tape was pasted on the surface of vitiligo lesions and removed immediately. The cells isolated by the tape were collected to perform Masson-Fontana silver stains. The percentage of corneocyte area occupied by melanin granules were calculated by Image-Pro Plus6.0, statistically analyzed by F-test. NB-UVB phototherapy was then administered three times a week for 10 weeks. Ten weeks later this adhesive-tape stripping method combined with image analysis technique was applied to identify the melanin content and distribution in the surface of corneocyte. The percentage scoring method based on digital images is used for evaluating treatment response of the depigmented lesions. Results: 1. The increase of melanin particles in the corneocytes was observed earlier than those of visual pigmentation in vitiligo lesions after NB-UVB treatment. 2. We found that the percentage of melanin of the corneocytes in the vitiligo lesions were significantly increased significantly after 30 times of NB-UVB treatment. 3. The higher percentage of corneocyte area occupied by melanin granules before NB-UVB treatment is, the higher the visual repigmentation area is after ten weeks treatment. Conlusions: The adhesion tape method is a non-invasive and quantitative method to evaluate the repigmentation potential of narrow-band ultraviolet B in the treatment of vitiligo." @default.
