Magnesium ECAP has been gaining interest in biomaterial development researches due to its excellent mechanical properties and osteoanabolic effects towards bone metabolism. However, its corrosion rate cannot be disregarded. Immunohistochemical study can be conducted to identify responses from those processes indirectly by looking into traces of reaction in surrounding tissues. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of gas voids from magnesium corrosion in microscopic preparation taken from rabbit’s femur after being implanted with magnesium ECAP miniplate and screw by immunohistochemical staining in 1, 3, and 5 months interval for CD68 response. The results were calculated with histoscore and showed a decline on the fifth month.
